Stunning pictures ... The colors are so vibrant, the reflections so sharp, it's like seeing double.

KLIATT

Renowned photographer and naturalist Fitzharris traveled the length of the Rockies for this collection of breathtaking photographs—all in color. Most of the large photographs contain a lake that provides a reflection of the mountains and trees surrounding it. Nicely formatted, each double page contains the landscape and (usually) a smaller photograph of an animal or bird. Much of the text is about the animal or bird pictured. However, there is a long introduction and endnotes about the photography. Many photographs are burnished with the autumnal colors of the leaves and marsh plants, such as a two-page spread of autumn aspens, West Needle Mountains, Colorado. For naturalists, photographers, lovers of landscapes and beauty. KLIATT Codes: JSA—Recommended for junior and senior high school students, advanced students, and adults. 2000, Firefly, 143p, illus, 28cm, $24.95. Ages 13 to adult.
