Although occasionally patronizing in tone, public relations specialist Rogers ( Roger's Rules for Success ) here surveys comprehensively basic steps required to establish a career path. His pithy remarks are of value to most neophyte businesspeople (as when he discusses appropriate dress and conduct issues, albeit in an oversimplified manner) yet he inadvertently reveals an archaic attitude towards career women. Nonetheless, inspirational testimonials from successful businesswomen included here demonstrate a quest for personal excellence and the exercise of sound business judgement; each section concludes with a succinct, helpful summary. Among the more interesting topics scrutinized in Rogers' personable style are office politics, managing one's boss, women entrepreneurs and guidelines for the reader when she herself becomes the boss.
