Often called the mother of the civil rights movement, Rosa Parks dreamed as a child that she would change the way black people had to sit at the back of the bus, drink from separate water fountains, and participate in events differently from white people. Rosa Parks spoke out for equal rights for all people, and consequently, her bravery and actions led to the desegregation of buses in Montgomery, Alabama, in the 1960s. She was an important figure in the early days of the civil rights movement.
