Children's Literature

Many NASCAR drivers are from racing families, others begin their careers on their own. Rusty Wallace's family is the former. His family spent weekends going to races. Rusty and his brother Kenny would do anything they could to raise money for their cars. If they were not working at jobs, they were working on their cars. In fact, Kenny is a champion in the Busch series of racing. In 1984, Rusty Wallace began racing Winston Cup. By 1989, he was a champion. Even today, his Ford number 2 is seen in the thick of Winston Cup races. As with other volumes he has written for "The World of NASCAR" series, Peterson provides young readers insight into the world of NASCAR. Included in the back of the book are a glossary and section for further reading. A timeline of Wallace's career is also included. This whole series is worthwhile for any school library nonfiction collection. 2004, Tradition Publishing Company, Ages 8 to 15.
