About the Author Jerry Hansen was Institute director at Purdue University from 1984 to 1988, when he joined the religion department at Brigham Young University-Idaho. There he was head of the General Education Committee from 1990 to 1994. In 2008, Jerry joined the History and Political Science department at BYU-I. About the Photographer Val Brinkerhoff is an associate professor of photography in the Visual Arts Department at Brigham Young University.
