Overview

This book argues for schooling that combines rigorous academic instruction with learning in real-world settings. It offers practical strategies for designing effective learning programs, developing a strong curriculum, setting standards and goals, assessing student work, supporting rewarding internships, and much more.

Synopsis

An exciting guide to developing rigorous, relevant schools that prepare all students for the workplace, including essential lessons and guidelines for the curriculum, work-based projects, internships and more. Schooling For The Real World shows how schools can raise the intellectual level of student work for all kinds of learners. Dispelling the myth that work-based learning is about setting kids on rigid vocational paths, this book shows how teachers and administrators can give them rich educational experiences that will open up diverse opportunities in the future.
