For the 27 million Americans with Scottish roots, it should come of no surprise that their ancestors helped shape American history from its beginnings. Calder worked at the National Museums of Scotland from 1978 to 2001. She has written and lectured widely on Scottish, English, and American literature and history. She writes fiction and poetry as Jenni Daiches.
