Overview

Now in its second edition, this book is your guide to road bicycling in northern Virginia and central Maryland. The two authors are local cyclists with over 20 years of collective experience riding in the area. This book has sixty-eight of the authors' favorite rides: forty-four main rides plus twenty-four variations. Each ride has a detailed map, a turn-by-turn cue sheet, a mile-by-mile elevation profile, and a description. Distances range from twenty-three to sixty-four miles and difficulty ranges from easy to very difficult.

The book is large-format (8.5 in x 11 in) and each cue is presented on one page facing its map, instead of spread out over several small pages. The rides are organized by four areas: Frederick and Montgomery County in Maryland, and The Plains and Warrenton/Nokesville in Virginia. Included in the rides are four local multi-use trails, such as the Washington & Old Dominion trail.

The authors are donating all profits from sales of this book to the Davis Phinney Foundation to benefit Parkinson's disease research.
