Both a calendar of dramatic performances and a bibliography of published texts and unpublished manuscripts derived from the novels, tales, and narrative poems of Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832). The volume is mainly a series of chronological lists of productions of plays and operas based upon Scott's works. It refers also to derivative films and radio and television dramas. There are references not only to first productions of plays, but also to revivals, reproductions, and rebroadcasts, thus constituting a record of Scott's popular reputation--especially during the 19th century--as manifest particularly in the records of the theatre. The material is arranged chronologically in order of the publication of Scott's works, and each chapter includes a short introductory essay. Annotation c.
