This title provides an overview of developments within Scottish film making, and looks at the institutional context within which successes such as Regeneration, Trainspotting, Carla's Song, and Mrs. Brown have appeared. It also examines the history of Scottish film production.

Synopsis

Shallow Grave and Trainspotting were two of the most significant films for kick-starting the revival of a more successful and popular British cinema in the 90s. Both were Scottish.

Screening Scotland provides the first overview of Scottish film and the institutional context within which such successes as Regeneration, Carla's Song, Mrs Brown, and My Name is Joe have appeared. It also examines the longer and deeper history of Scottish film production, starting with the silent period.
