The Trends in Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), sponsored by the IEA, administered two rounds of tests to students in some 40 countries during 1995-1999 to evaluate achievement. Twenty-five papers analyze results and discuss implications for improving the teaching and learning of math and science in participating countries, including topics such as gender differences for high achieving students, application of the scale anchoring method to interpret achievement scales, and student responses in math using two-digit rubrics.
