Synopsis

From 1974 to 2002, the Society of Biblical Literature published "an experimental journal for biblical criticism", a scholarly collection of papers and monographs on selected topics. This edition, the 33rd from 1985, focuses on RenΓ© Girard and the subject of biblical studies. Included are monographs on Job as a scapegoat (by Girard), prophecy, sacrifice and repentance in the story of Jonah, Christian morality and the Pauline revelation, and evaluations by other authors of current and previous works.
