About the Author, E. V. Walsh

Born and raised in Seward County Nebraska, Edward Walsh left the family farm in 1942 and became a member of the 242nd Field Artillery Battalion. Following the war, he attended Nebraska Technical School and operated a service station for 25 years. Married with two sons, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, Edward, now 85, wrote the account of his military service at the request of his family. With the help of his wife Jeanne and grandson Vince, two different 242nd websites were created. Today, Ed corresponds via email with those interested in the 242nd and its members.
