Synopsis
Shining Star is a four-level program specifically designed for English language learners in grades 6-12. Shining Star gives students all the support they need to master reading, writing, literature, and content, within a systematic language development framework. Shining Star helps teachers create a rich learning environment where language thrives, students feel motivated to learn, and academic success is the reward. (Also see Keys to Learning for a much lower, structured approach for students.) This four-level program has a package that supports both students and teachers:
• Comprehensive assessment tools, such as diagnostic tests, test prep worksheets for standardized test practice, and four-skills tests.
• Outstanding technology resources, including an interactive student CD-ROM, audio reading selections, a Companion Website, and the Focus and Connect video program, to help address multiple learning styles.
• Abundant classroom management and support tools, such as a fully annotated Teacher's Edition, point-of-use teaching suggestions, daily lesson plans, graphic organizers, reproducible newcomer worksheets, practice transparencies, and more.
