"Shwatsit!" What does this silly word mean? The new baby uses it frequently and her family is hard at work trying to decipher its meaning. She uses it in the morning while her new brother boards the school bus. She shouts it during dinnertime and even while her mother is brushing her hair. What could it mean? Throughout laundry, playtime, and shopping trips, "shwatsit" is bellowed over and over again. Wait a minute! Big brother has it figured out. "Shwatsit" said as fast as could be means "she wants it!" Say it fast or slow, no matter. The mystery is finally solved. Of course! She wants it! This charming story is written in rhyming verse and creates an enjoyable smooth yet euphonious sound when read aloud. Beardshaw's illustrations are exertive and simmering with color. This would make a fun read aloud to any child with a younger sibling who babbles unknowing sounds and syllables. Reviewer: Summer Whiting
