Synopsis

This novel written by George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans) was one of her most popular works and is considered among her greatest.Silas Marner, a weaver and a strange alien figure, is the protagonist. Unjustly convicted of robbery, he has been driven from the comfort of his narrow religious sect to the village of Raveloe. There he becomes a weaver absorbed in the accumulation of wealth.His gold is stolen and the young Eppie, unacknowledged by her father and her mother dead, comes into his life and changes it.
