The objective of the November 1993 symposium, which was part of the PAC RIM Meeting, was to present current research on a range of different silicon-based materials, primarily silicon carbide and silicon nitride. The papers in this proceedings volume represent some of the most recent developments in the processing and mechanical behavior of both monolithic and composite materials. Research on a wide variety of net-shape approaches is presented, while recent advances in the mechanical behavior of composites and self-reinforced materials are also covered in depth. Annotation c.
