School Library Journal

Lamberg presents the anatomy and physiology of skin disorders, current treatment of acne, cancers, and rashes. She also discusses how to keep nails, skin, and hair healthy and therefore attractive. Chapters are devoted to the sun and tanning and to cosmetics. For the most part the black-and-white illustrations and photos are mediocre, but there are a few interesting historical drawings. The bibliography includes mostly adult sources. Some of this material can be found in general grooming sources or health books such as The New Teenage Body Book (Price Stern Sloan, 1987) by Kathy McCoy and Charles Wibbelsman, but the emphasis in this book is on diseases. --Martha Gordon, South Salem Library, NY
