Overview

" The golden age of yachts and photography come alive here in 80 superb pictures selected by photo historian Connie Sullivan, with an insightful commentary by yachting historian John Rousmaniere."

Synopsis

Selected from thousands of photographs and negatives in the Rosenfeld Collection at Mystic Seaport—The Museum of America (Connecticut), some 90 duotone images, taken between 1885 and 1955, display the artistry of both yacht designers and photographers. Yachting historian Rousmaniere explores both, describing the sailboats and their designers, and offering insights about how and why the pictures were made and biographical profiles of the photographers (some unknown until this publication). The book is oversize: 9.5x12". Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
