Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

Boots who is Dora friend has found a wishing machine. Being a monkey he starts wishing for bananas and does he get a pile of bananas. At first it is wonderful, but then every time he says the word bananasβ€”more appear. He is up to his nose in bananas. Poor Boots wants to put an end to his wish but the machine is broken. Dora has another friend whose grandfather has a wishing machine and she is sure that they will be able to use it to make a new wish. Map shows them the way and they have to answer a riddle at the troll bridge and then the turtles are blocking their river crossing. They figure out a way to divert the turtles, make it to the workshop and reverse the wish. The illustrations have a cartoon look and kids who watch Dora the Explorer on Nickeloden will enjoy this pre-level 1 "Ready-to-Read" story. The inside cover contains a message to parents and teachers and the back cover recaps the levels within the series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
