Synopsis

Soccer Chick Rule Number 7: Never, ever give up!

Children's Literature

Tess Munro, a thirteen-year-old soccer chick, finds her self in the middle of a dilemma when she learns that all sports programs at her school will be abolished if a tax levy isn't passed. Tess lives for sports, and, quite frankly, only attends school for the extracurricular activities at the end of the day. She and her friends work hard to fight for their true love, sports. The students work together to convince the community that sports programs need to continue to be offered at school. They make yard signs and develop a fundraising project, but things don't always go as planned. They encounter quite a few bumps in the road as they journey through local politics. While dealing with the stress of possibly losing school sports, Tess is also gearing up for the soccer game of her life. The author offers a realistic plot, terrific character development, and humorous dialogue to capture the interest of middle school students. With a bittersweet ending, this book provides a great lesson—never, ever give up!
