Library Journal
Gr 4-8-In these basic introductions, Blackall begins with brief discussions of the history of each sport, their "U.S. Highlights," and some male and female stars. In both, double-page spreads describe and detail the equipment and rules while most of the remaining pages cover the multitude of necessary skills. One odd aspect of the organization is the placement of the chapter on warm-up and stretching exercises at the end of the books. Full-color and black-and-white photos and diagrams illustrate skills, positions, and field and court markings. Although these titles are similar to those in the "Fundamental Sports" series (Lerner), they will make adequate additions for libraries needing more on these subjects.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
