Overview

This is a thoroughly revised and updated edition of a rich and uniquely focused text. As with previous editions, the fourth offers coverage that spans both conceptual debates about empowerment and the range of practice issues and challenges that face a social work audience today. It provides a rigorous and extensive discussion of theory, drawing on global aspects of empowerment and linking this clearly to the needs of service users. This new edition includes additional examples reflecting varied global contexts as well as new material on empowering children and adults. Proper emphasis is also given to clarity of style and accessibility so that the book continues to offer an essential resource at all levels of study.
