Debra Hayes is a senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has worked with the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit and was involved in initiating the Campaign Against Double Punishment whist working in the probation services.Beth Humphries is a reader in Social Work at Lancaster University. Her research interests include welfare and immigration controls, 'race' and racism, gender and feminist theory and adult learning.
