Synopsis
The goal of this text is to assist social workers and students to practice in a sensitive and effective manner across disability. It describes the relationship between the societal environment and disability, looks at disability and the individual experience, covers essential skills for practice with people with disabilities, and examines the role of the social worker as part of the disabled person's support network. Learning features include personal narratives by people with disabilities, agency vignettes, a chronology of legislation, and chapter problems and discussion questions.
