About the Author, Michael Oliver

MICHAEL OLIVER was the first Professor of Disability Studies in the United Kingdom and is currently Emeritus Professor at the University of Greenwich, UK. He is also the author of the pathbreaking The Politics of Disablement, fully updated in a second edition.

BOB SAPEY is Senior Lecturer in Applied Social Science at Lancaster University, UK, where he teaches on disability and mental health. He was a practitioner for many years before moving into higher education, where he has been an active contributor to teaching and research in disability studies.

PAM THOMAS is Honorary Research Fellow at the Center for Disability Research, Lancaster University, UK.
