About the Author, Hans Hollein

Ettore Sottsass established his studio in 1947 and began working with Olivetti in 1958 as a design consultant. In 1981 he founded the Memphis group, which soon became the point of reference for the design avant garde. Hans Hollein is an internationally celebrated architect and recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Pritzker Prize (1985). Milco Carboni is an architect and has worked with Sottsass since 1990; his publications include The Work of Ettore Sottsass and Associates (Universe, 1999) and Ettore Sottsass Metaphors (Skira, 2002).
