Children's Literature

By showing pictures in the place of some of the words, a child who has been struggling with reading can sweep through a book, and have the satisfaction of having read a whole book by himself. This book is a good example of a picture reader. The story is about a boy from outer space who goes through his very normal-sounding day (getting dressed, riding his bike and going out for pizza.) Of course, he is an alien, and he looks weird, his friend's dog has three eyes, his jet bike zooms through space, and the family heads out for pizza in a rocket ship. So the laughs are mostly visual, and the text remains easily understood. The pictures have a geeky, fun quality to them that kids are likely to enjoy.
