How do you become a writer? What does it mean to be a Southern Writer? What advice do established writers have for new writers? These are just a few of the questions that William J. Walsh, a writer and teacher of writing and literature in the Atlanta area, wanted answered when he set out to interview writers from the South. Thirty-one of the South's most prominent and popular poets, short story writers and novelists speak not only of their lives and their work, collectively they offer a glimpse into the soul of the South.

About the Author, William J. Walsh

William J. Walsh is the author of four other books and has published in Five Points, North American Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Flannery O'Connor Review, The Kenyon Review, Verse, Poets & Writers, Shenandoah, AWP Chronicle, Kestrel, and others. He is a Ph.D candidate at Georgia State.
