Gr 4-6-- Information on the life and careers of two popular baseball players in the major leagues, including their disappointments and defeats as well as their triumphs. Each story covers the development of the player's talent from boyhood to early seasons in the majors. A readable text and both full-color and black-and-white photographs add to the attraction. There is some repetitiveness about the players' accomplishments, and little is said about the men's feelings and attitudes toward the game. However, fans of the sport will be fascinated with these books, and students will find them useful for reports. --Bruce Lee Siebers, Free Library of PhiladelphiaBook Details
