Overview

Peer pressure and fear of being left out is a recurrent problem for most teens. This book suggests ways of boosting self-esteem and advises on ways of saying no to risky situations involving smoking, drugs, and alcohol. Self-empowerment exercises are offered as encouragement to teens to know themselves and be at their best in all situations. Titles in this series are frank guides intended to help teenage girls deal with the many uncertainties and challenges that are a part of growing up. Though the books are small enough to carry around in a pocket or backpack, they're packed with large helpings of good advice presented in a lively, eye-catching format. Teens will be amused by author Joely Carey's humorous approach to her subjects, but they'll also get sound and serious answers to entirely real problems. (Ages 12 and older)
