K-Gr 3-A fine overview of teeth and dental hygiene. Basic facts about incisors, canines, molars, and primary and permanent teeth are followed by illustrations of cross-sections of teeth. Discussions of the effects of decay and cavities, techniques for brushing and flossing, healthy eating habits, and reasons to visit a dentist are also presented. Large type, plenty of white space, handsome red headings, clear and simple drawings, and a fanciful border of handprints at the top of each page reflect careful book design. Children, mostly Caucasian, smile out from the full-color photos that appear throughout. Words listed in the glossary are in bold in the text and pronunciation guides are provided. Joan Iveson-Iveson's Your Teeth (Bookwright, 1985) is aimed at younger children. This attractive title fills a gap and will be useful for both science and hygiene units.-Jacqueline Elsner, Athens Regional Library, GABook Details
