Gr 3-6As in the previous entries in this series, these titles present accurate though superficial information about contemporary athletes in an eye-pleasing format. Gutman chronicles Hill's stellar college career at Duke and his rookie-of-the-year 1994-95 season with the Detroit Pistons. Young is followed through his high school days, college at Brigham Young University, his short stints in the USFL and with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and as a quarterback with the San Francisco 49ers from 1987 through the 1995 season. Nearly identical in format, each book features lots of full-color and a few black-and-white photographs. The texts include a number of quotes that are not documented. Those looking for beefier, fully documented books about these men at a slightly higher reading level could turn to Ron Knapp's Steve Young (Enslow, 1996) and Ken Rappoport's Grant Hill (Walker, 1996).Tom S.
