Overview
Conceived following a course in the subject jointly taught by the editors at the U. of Cologne, Germany, which featured guest lectures from industry executives, this volume contains 26 chapters written by those in the airline industry (many are with Lufthansa Consulting) and in economics who comment on issues of airline practice and management for both passenger and freight operations. Among the topics are the European Commission's competition policy, low cost carriers, alliances and mergers, current trends in the industry of airports, and linking airports with other modes of transportation. Several chapters discuss strategies, regulation, deregulation, and pricing specifically with regard to the air cargo industry. Co-published by Kolner Wissenschaftsverlag and Ashgate.
