Perhaps it was because Loree Lough attended 10 schools in 12 years that she thought nothing of holding down at least as many jobs to pay her way through school. She started small--flipping burgers, spinning pizza dough, shrink-wrapping torque wrenches--and didn't stop until she'd parlayed her musical gifts into those of an 18-year-old headliner, singing and strumming guitar for packed houses throughout the Midwest.

Maybe all those jobs and all that energy explain why, after becoming a wife and mom, Loree eagerly contributed to the family coffers with a myriad of part-time careers, including secretary, substitute teacher, and nursing-home cook.

When her daughters were both in school part-time, Loree started writing at the keyboard of a Sears manual typewriter. The hapless machine soon crumbled under the onslaught of her prolific fingers, and she upgraded to an electric. In time, that heavy-duty replacement surrendered due to overuse, forcing Loree into the computer age.

Since then, three equipment upgrades have helped her to produce 2,000 articles and dozens of short stories, all published nationally. She's been the featured speaker for numerous organizations. (For a touch of intrigue, Loree was invited to speak at the National Security Agency...and was one of the few writers asked to return!) She teaches and develops writing-related courses and seminars at area community colleges, and volunteers at area schools and seniors' centers.

Loree's first published novel, Pocketful of Love, earned the coveted Readers' Choice Award as Best Contemporary Romance of 1994. Many of Loree's books have since been nominated for awards and earned great reviews: Emma's Orphans received Best Historical, and The Wedding Wish received Best Contemporary. Suddenly Married earned a Romantic Times Magazine 4?-star review, and Suddenly Mommy received a Romantic Times Magazine 4-star review and a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice nomination.

But the pièce de résistance of her literary career came when the fourth novel in her Suddenly series, Suddenly Reunited, was optioned for a TV movie.
