Overview

Seventeen year old Summer is off to the 10K Olympic Trials! She's very excited that she even qualified! She thought the trials were going to be based on pool times alone, and then (much to her surprise) she ended up qualifying for the Grand Prix 10K (the qualifier for the trials) at the 5 mile double Waikiki swim, and when she swam Grand Prix she qualified for the trials!

But all was not fun and games for Summer. She had problems with one of her college professors, and her coach and the college she was going to was way too controlling. Summer was a free spirit and the school her pool coach had helped her get into was just not working out for her.

Summer has another adventure in Florida when she goes to the trials. This time the adventure involves a boy and an alligator, and Summer becomes a Floridian hero! (Or shall we say Floridian heroine?)

Summer comes home only to be faced with more things that she doesn't need in her life right now, but Phillip is there; and she does her best with the cards that have been dealt her. This is the eighth book in the Surfer Girl Book Series by Penelope Dyan, and Summer continues to fulfill her legacy as she pursues her dreams. Summer is (and remains) an ordinary girl with an extraordinary life!

Penelope Dyan's 'Surfer Girl,' the first book in this series, was the winner of the best teen book at the 2008 New York Book Festival and twas also the he winner of the best teen book at the 2008 Hollywood Book Festival. 'Surfer Girl' is also arecognized by the Girls Voices In Literature Database, Miami University Florida.

The cover illustration on 'Summer Surfs The Olympic Trials' is the creation of teen artist, Courtney Quinn.
