Synopsis
From School Library JournalGrade 10 Up-This book attempts to elucidate what students from a wide variety of colleges in a number of places around the world see as the secret to their academic success. While the intended audience is college students, the author hopes all levels can benefit from this information. Areas such as housing concerns, note taking, and what to do about a boring course are some of the topics covered. However, the text reads more like a dissertation than a book of advice for teenagers. The cover art is not eye-catching, the format is simplistic, and the writing is often awkward. For example, when the author is discussing approaching relatives for money, he states, "-determine how much money will be needed per unit of time-." Perhaps instructors can garner some sort of information to impart to their students, but this title doesn't add anything to the already exploding area of advice for the college-bound because of its poor overall presentation.
