Gr 9 UpT.E. Lawrence, or ``Lawrence of Arabia,'' led an exotic life, one often surrounded by mystery and controversy. Written with sensitivity, this book excels at examining Lawrence's complexities. Wolfe takes care to distinguish between realities and myths, and plainly states when no such discernment is possible. The subject's personal history is presented in a forthright, objective manner, including his noteworthy sexual experiences. The writing style is lively; the black-and-white photographs are abundant and interesting. An excellent reference as well as an informative biography.Marilyn Makowski, Greenwood High School, SC
