Winky Blue is a parakeet with a show business future-at least that's what Rosie, his owner, thinks in this chapter book. Winky Blue's road to stardom is a rocky one, but all ends well for both humans and animals with everybody realizing what is really important. Short chapters, short sentences, and larger than average print qualify this paperback as an easy reader. But the plot is solid, the resolution is realistic, and the illustrations depict a multi-ethnic cast of characters that readers can really care about.
