About the Author, James A. DuPlass
Jimmy Duplass is a professor at the University of South Florida, a Carnegie I research university that is NCATE accredited and one of the largest colleges of education in the country. He earned his Ph.D. from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Mo. He has previously served in faculty and/or administrative positions at Penn State University, Wayne State University, Loyola University, and Saint Louis University. Professor Duplass' research focus is on methods of instruction, competing conceptions of curriculum, values education, technology integration, and social studies education methods and philosophy. He has authored academic articles on topics such as values education, curriculum design, instructional methods, thinking skills, and administrative practices in higher education and has received over $1 million in technology grants.
Dr. Duplass has published in Middle Level Learning, The International Journal of Social Education, Trends and Issues, The Social Studies Review, The Social Studies, Computers and Education, College and University, Lyra Journal of Poetry and Fiction, Liberal Education, and Religious Education, and is the past editor of Trends and Issues.
