Synopsis

Formerly a SkyLight publication.

Everything we do on a day-to-day basis involves reading. To succeed, your students must be able to read, and read well. You can improve your reading program with phonics!

Teaching Phonics for Balanced Reading emphasizes how phonics can be extremely beneficial when integrated as part of a balanced reading program and covers the entire range of practical phonics applications for the elementary classroom. Divided into easy-to- understand sections that cover the major aspects of phonics, this insightful book explains how phonics skills can be applied immediately in the classroom.

This invaluable reference also includes practical, hands-on activities and sample informal assessments to gauge students' level of understanding. Teachers using these strategies can help their students not only learn how to read but also to enjoy reading-one of the most important gifts teachers can give to their students.
