Technology of Transition Science and Technology Policies for Transition Countries

This book seeks to tackle a problem that has been neglected in the transition literature on Eastern Europe: how can countries that have suffered stagnation in productivity levels and a complete loss of momentum in innovation over a period of 20-30 years rediscover their dynamism? The contributors advance a careful and dynamic challenge to the prevailing belief of the standard "shock therapy" literature that believes that balanced budgets and stable prices are sufficient to cure the ills of economically stagnant societies.
