The sunny board book Tell Me What God Made by Joni Walker offers a thumbnail sketch of Christian beliefs in a format sure to appeal to toddlers. With such verses as "God made the sky, the day, and the night./ God made the sun, the moon, and the light," youngsters receive a rhyming, easy-to-digest overview of the awesome scope of creation. Pastel illustrations of animals, children, and families accompany this little rhymed poem. Each two page spread has a scene of nature as a background with an inset picture which is more specific. One spread shows an underwater scene with an inset of a girl making a sand castle. The text reads: "God made the water, the fish, and the seas." An African scene with elephants, a lion, and a giraffe has an inset of a boy with farm animals. A family on a picnic has an inset of a father, mother, and child. Three crosses against a purple streaked sky have an inset of a church steeple. The accompanying text reads: "God made the day Jesus died for our sin." The next spread shows the empty tomb and an inset of children singing. This is accompanied by the text: "And God made the day when He rose again." The theology seems too advanced for the age group.Book Details
