From The Critics
Reviewer: Michelle A. Melyn, MD(University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)Description: Five years have passed since the last edition of this masterful text that in essence describes the many disorders comprising the very nature of child neurology.
Purpose: The author has chosen to blend the most recent achievements in neurosciences with basic clinical neurology, providing a firm foundation for understanding and treatment of various neurologic conditions in childhood. Additionally, he has sprinkled some areas with bits of neurologic history affording the reader a broader perspective of certain disorders when appropriate.
Audience: Physicians, primarily child and adult neurologists, as well as pediatricians will be especially appreciative of this work, targeted as it is for their knowledge and specialty. However, many professionals and students working with neurologically impaired children will find this an invaluable resource as well.
Features: The text is extensively referenced, much more than the preceding edition, in keeping with the currency of information. The index is quite complete making locating various topics rather simple.
Assessment: This text remains a major resource in the field of child neurology. It not only provides classical descriptions of multiple disorders but does it through an extensively referenced edition. What more could the reader ask?
