Overview

Thanksgiving includes all the traditional aspects of the American holiday: remembering our Puritan forefathers and mothers, the landings in both Virginia and Plymouth, the Indian influence, giving thanks for one's blessings, and the great feast to honor the event and share the bottom. This book even touches on the fact that the early years included illness, death, and much less bounty. Traditions and customs of other countries are included such as Canada's similar celebration and the harvest festivals of many European countries, including the Czech Republic, and those of Sierra Leone in Central Africa. Activities children can take part in, for instance, dramas, reenactments, and hands-on projects are also described.

Examines the traditions and celebrations associated with the holiday of Thanksgiving.
