Overview

"...uses a 'magic finger' to help point readers to the right answer for a series of questions...on topics ranging from the plant world to the human body to technology. Readers place the 'magic finger' in a groove on the left-hand page so that it points to the question they'd like...answered, then move the finger to the right-hand page where it indicates the correct response...Full-color photographs and factoid captions deliver additional information..."--Publishers Weekly. "...a very special book....It is amazing that as long as the magic finger is lined up correctly, every time you use it, it will give you the right answer. Reviewing this book was a blast. The questions in it are interesting, too."--New York Newsday.

Children's Literature

This is a large format book with a gimmick. Each spread about a specific subject consists of two sets of circles around a hole cut out in the center of the page. A cut-out of a pointing finger is mounted on a circular device that fits into the hole on the left side of the book. When the hand is correctly seated in the device, it can be twisted to a question that is written in the circles around the hole. The hand is then picked up and placed on the hole in the center of the right page. Magically, it answers the question selected on the left hand page. The subjects run the gamutΒΎouter space, animals, plants, the human body and sports. Topics are quite broad, and the information is very basic, but this is fun to play with. Lots of factoids, so it has value even after the hand is lost. 2000, Big Fish,
