Library Journal

The immediately striking feature of this volume is its sheer beauty: It is generously illustrated with matte photos that take on watercolor-like tones on the high-quality paper. The content is of equal substance. The book is essentially a gazetteer with the entry for each town and city offering map location, history, description, and points to see. These entries vary in length from a short paragraph to 13 pages on London. In addition, there is a 27-page history of Britain, suggested motoring tours, and a 30-plate color road atlas. The theme throughout is to emphasize and point out the Anglo-American connection. An essential purchase. Norma Allenbach, Amherst P.L., N.Y.
