Gr 9 Up-Through book excerpts, newspaper articles, speeches, essays, interviews, etc., the author examines the pros and cons of the antinuclear movement from its beginnings through the present day. An introductory essay presents an overview of the topic. Four chapters cover the origins of the movement, its relationship to the nuclear-arms race and nuclear power, and the movement today. The final chapter offers "Personal Narratives and Voices of Protest." Introductory paragraphs summarize each article's content and give brief information about the writer. Supplementary material includes brief excerpts of related information within selections, a chronology, and a comprehensive bibliography. Some of the writings are heart-wrenchingly poignant, while others are more historical and factual in nature.
