School Library Journal

Gr 4-8 Unsolved mysteries of the uni verse hold a special appeal for many readers. This is an adequate contribu tion to the field as it offers a balanced chance to consider differing opinions. The book includes 44 black-and-white illustrations, maps, and photographs that come from varied sources and time periods. The art work ranges widely in style and quality; many of the illustra tions are unusual and captivating, re vealing a mystical, watery quality that definitely enhance the mood. Numer ous quotes, outlined in red, interrupt the text on virtually every page. These quotes are extremely distracting as they do not appear at natural breaking places. Most of the information is pre sented clearly and thoroughly, although it is not particularly current, as the list of victims of the Bermuda Triangle ends with 1973. Leslie Chamberlin, Napa City-County Library, Calif.
