School Library Journal
Gr 1-3 This is not the beloved story with its classic illustrations, but a bumper book of related activities: information about Potter and her work, secret codes, a scavenger hunt, puzzles and games, recipes, sewing instructions, quizzes, riddles, and even a reusable calendar. It's an interesting compendium, varied, attractive, and true to its origins. However, its potential audience is difficult to identify, since children likely to enjoy the stories will be too young for most of the activities. Where the books are used in the classroom, this could be a useful source of supplementary projects. Overall, it is probably most suitable as a gift book for an individual Potter fan, rather than an essential purchase for library shelves.
